    Abstract:

    In order to understand the chemical constituents of Spermacoce latifolia, seven compounds were isolated from its whole plant. On the basis of spectral data, they were identified as ursolic acid (1), mesembryanthemoidigenic acid (2), 3β,6β-dihydroxy-olean-12-ene-28-oic acid (3), scutellaric acid (4), arjunic acid (5), 29-hydroxyhederagenin (6) and 3β,6β,23-trihydroxy-olean-12-en-28-oic acid (7). Compounds 1, 3, 4 and 7 showed significant inhibitory activity toward parts of the assayed bacterial strains.
