    Abstract:

Hemolytic toxins are common toxic second-metabolites produced by fish-killing marine microalgae, partly responsible for the toxic mechanism of harmful algae such as allelopathy, anti-grazing and toxicity to marine mammals. The recent progresses in types, physical and chemical quality, biosynthesis and toxicity of hemolytic toxins were reviewed. The perspectes and problems in the studies of hemolytic toxins were also discussed.
