A study was conducted to investigate differential gene expression in sugarcane (ROC16) leaves subjected to 200 mg/L ethephon. cDNA-AFLP amplification showed a high level of polymorphism，and gene expression was significantly different compared with control. Some sequences of different expression fragments were highly homologous to disease-resistant and photosynthesis-associated genes.
