    Abstract:

The essential oils were extracted from the aerial parts of Cinnamomum japonicum Sibe by steam distillation and determined by GC-MS. Twenty-seven chemicals were isolated. Borneol was the major component accounting for 26.03% of the total oil. The essential oils exhibited significant activity against Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus in the filter paper assay.
