    Abstract:

The roots of 13-day-old rice seedlings were pretreated with 50 μmol/L chlorpromazine or 500 μmol/L lanthanum chloride (LaCl3) at 25℃ for 15 h to determine the changes in relative water content (RWC), malondialdehyde (MDA) content, relative permeability of cell membrane, and proline (Pro) accumulation in the seedlings under cold stress at 6-7℃ and light intensity at 200 μmol m-2s-1. The experiments showed that the RWC decreased, relative permeability of cell membrane and MDA content increased, meanwhile, the proline was accumulated under cold stress. Such trends were enhanced significantly in the seedlings pretreated with chlorpromazine or LaCl3 under cold stress.
