    Abstract:

Flow cytometry (FCM) is a current technique for sorting certain cell subset from various cellular associations based on differences in cell' s physical and chemical properties, by which the selected cell subset could be further studied in function and morphology. The advantages of this technique include rapidity, sensitivity and synchronization of multi-parameter detection. The principles of FCM are briefly described, and its applications in plant cytoplast, protoplast and chromosome are reviewed.
